A touching memory

“Grey’s Anatomy” star Katherine Heigl (Izzy) be comes the first celebrity to ever grace the cover of Pre vention magazine (May issue). If you’re wondering why, it’s because when Heigl was a child, her older brother, Jason, 15, was thrown from the back of a pickup truck and was de clared brain dead. The family then decided to donate his organs. “Jason didn’t need them any more, and it’s what he would have wanted,” Heigl tells Pre vention, adding that the “real- life medical drama” changed her life.

“Will & Grace” star Eric McCormack, meanwhile, is nearing the end of his NBC series – and the beginning of his post-TV big-screen movie career. In “The Sisters,” open ing Friday, McCormack plays a professor in love with a younger woman (Erika Christensen). Maria Bello, Elizabeth Banks, Steven Culp, Mary Stuart Master son and Tony Goldwyn co- star.

Ratings for “The Sopranos” continue to fall. This past Sunday’s episode, the fifth of the season, averaged 8.6 mil lion viewers, down from 8.8 million the week before and down 400,000 viewers from the March 12 season premiere, according to Nielsen. It was also the season’s lowest- rated episode yet – even with ABC’s “Desperate House wives” airing a repeat in di rect competition (9-10 p.m.).

The Mets, meanwhile, have averaged a 2.1 rating on SportsNet NY after one week – up 70 percent, in house holds, over what the Amazin’s averaged through five games last season (on MSG/ FSNY).

* Cherry Martinez promoted to host of “Power After Hours” on Power 105.1 (10 p.m.-2 a.m.). She begins later this month.
