Talks of the town

Dick Cavett, who doesn’t do enough TV these days, guests on tomorrow’s “Tavis Smiley” (midnight/Ch. 13) to discuss his career and the newly released DVD collections of “The Dick Cavett Show.” The Cavett interview was taped in L.A.; host Tavis Smiley will be here tomorrow night hosting a town hall meeting in Harlem at Convent Avenue Baptist Church (420 W. 145th) to talk about his best- seller “Covenant with Black America.” “Covenant” is a collection of essays by prominent African Americans.

The town hall meeting is free and open to the public.

“CSI: NY” co-star Hill Harper, meanwhile, discusses the plight of young black men in America tomorrow at the N.J. Institute of Technology in Newark in a talk sponsored by The Day In The Life Foundation. Harper has written a new book, “Letters To A Young Brother: MANifest Your Destiny.”

Add this one to the “Truth is stranger than fiction” department:

Ashley and MaryKate Olsen – who was in rehab for anorexia in 2004 – have taken meetings in L.A. to pitch a new TV show about health called “Sportee Kids,” according to Us Weekly. It’ll be oriented to 4-to-5-year-old kids and “will focus on fitness and healthy eating,” a source tells Us – adding that “some execs are weirded out to do a show about food and nutrition with the Olsens” (their rep denies this).

Last, but not least:

* Ch. 11’s Marvin Scott emcees the annual Parade of Ships ceremony on the Intrepid today; Ch. 2’s Kirstin Cole hosts tonight’s “Artrageous” dinner and art auction at Cipriani, sponsored by the Edwin Gould Services for Children and Families.

* “Postman Pat,” seen weekday mornings on HBO Family, makes an appearance in D.C. this weekend at the Washington 2006 stamp exhibition.

* Da! Dick Wolf’s “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” (starring Annabella Sciorra, left) and “Law & Order: SVU” have been licensed to Russian TV, which will produce “localized” versions of the NBC shows launching in spring 2007. Wolf and his team will consult on the shows.
