Now that Katie Couric is gone from NBC, the late Fred Facey’s voiceover is no longer being used to introduce the “Today” show.

Facey’s voice was heard, for the final time, on Couric’s signoff last Wednesday. The voice you hear now, introducing Matt Lauer and his co-hosts this summer, is temporary – and may or may not be used once Meredith Vieira starts in September.

Speaking of wellknown voices, John Roland, who was always savvy when it came to internal politics in his 35 years anchoring at Ch. 5, is now running for mayor of Westhampton Beach (really).

Roland, who retired from Ch. 5 in June 2004, will be among those paneling at The Friars Club tonight (6 p.m.) in a roundtable discussion, “Putting The Spin On Spin.”

Behold the power of Nick Jr.’s “Dora the Explorer.” The NHL is apparently having a scheduling conflict, since the “Dora” tour is set to land in Edmonton on June 17, in the same arena in which the Oilers will square off against Carolina in Game 6 of the NHL finals.

This occurrence was duly noted recently by ESPN radio’s Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic (“The Mike and Mike Show”), with Greenberg saying how much he loves “Dora” (he’s seen the live show twice with his family). Both guys discussed how big “Dora” is among the kiddie set (Golic said she’s arguably bigger than the NHL in the U.S.).

* Wounded CBS reporter Kimberly Dozier (left) will remain in a military hospital in Germany for a few more days, according to reports. Soldiers with “more urgent needs” had to be flown back to the U.S. ahead of her, a CBS local news Web site reports.

* ESPN shot the last leg out from under Barry Bonds’ TV show, “Bonds on Bonds,” over the weekend. Plans for one, last epsiode on homer No. 715 were scrapped after the slugger’s people demanded control over its editing, the net says.
