Piece of the ‘Rock’

NBC can spin this thing five ways from Sunday, but there’s no getting around the fact that Wednesday’s episode of “30 Rock” (Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, above) averaged only 5.7 million viewers (and finished third in adults 18-49) at 8 p.m., bad news that didn’t do much for its lead-out, “20 Good Years” (Jeffrey Tambor, John Lithgow), which averaged only 5.1 million viewers to finish dead-last (viewers, adults 18-49) at 8:30.

“Lost,” meanwhile, continues to just squeak by “Criminal Minds” – this week by 100,000 viewers – and is still shedding viewers its second half-hour (over 1 million of them Wednesday). “CM” gained 1.4 million viewers in its last half-hour.

And Rosie O’Donnell seems to be having an effect on “The View,” which averaged 3.1 million viewers last week – up 14 percent over the same week last year. Judge Glenda Hatchett guest-hosts Monday.

Last, but not least:

* Today: Ch. 5’s Nick Gregory emcees the Hellenic American Chamber of Commerce Gala.

* Restaurateur/Lime TV’s Michel Nischan is now a contributor to “Rachael Ray.” He’s opening a new place with Paul Newman.

* Court TV’s Vinnie Politan presents the media award at the American Diabetes Association’s gala tonight (Pier 60).

* Lola, one of the dogs featured in Lifetime’s “Off the Leash,” now has her own publicist. I kid you not.

* Just grand: LeAnn Rimes plays a character in “Holly Hobbie & Friends: Christmas Wishes,” out Tuesday on DVD.

* The Starr Report (this column, not Ken Starr’s work) turns 7 tomorrow.

* CBS has axed its midseason drama “Waterfront” before it ever aired. The show, starring Joe Pantoliano as the mayor of Providence, R.I., was just too expensive (it was shot on location) and CBS says it couldn’t find a place for it on the schedule, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
