“Access Hollywood Live” has earned a second season in syndication.

The show (11 a.m./Ch. 4), hosted by Billy Bush and Kit Hoover, aired in 15 markets in its maiden season and was up 13 percent in households last month (nationally) over May 2010. It also performed very strongly among women (its core audience).

In fact, season-to-date, “AHL” delivered the most viewers among women 25-54 (38,200) for Ch. 4 at 11 a.m. since “Martha” in the 2005-2006 season, according to Nielsen. It led Ch. 4 to its best showing in households and total viewers at 11 since “Ellen” and “Crosswords” aired in that timeslot in 2007-08.

“The goal from day one has been to make Billy Bush and Kit Hoover the best morning talk team on TV,” “AHL” executive producer Rob Silverstein said yesterday via e-mail. “And we are well on our way.”

Bush, who pulls double duty hosting the “Access Hollywood” mothership (7:30 p.m./Ch. 4) calls “AHL” a “first response show.”

“We have the experience and knowledge with the right amount of showmanship to break down news in the moment,” he told me yesterday via e-mail (he’s on vacation). “The daytime audience is connecting with us. I have always wanted to ‘entertain while doing entertainment’ and the sweet and spontaneous Kit Hoover makes it that much more fun.”

I asked Bush what he would like to change in Season 2.

“I would love to do more co-host-driven segments to take advantage of Kit and my friendship and chemistry,” he said.

Meanwhile . . . You gotta wonder if Jeff Probst’s new talk show, which will launch in the fall of 2012 via CBS Television Distribution, would’ve been the show given to Katie Couric had she chosen to stay at CBS instead of bolting for ABC — where she’ll now compete against Probst, since her show also launches in fall 2012.

Anyway, Probst, who’s won multiple Emmys hosting “Survivor” on CBS, will develop his new one-hour talk show which will “cover topics ranging from newsmakers of the day to families and individuals facing challenges,” according to a release.

“I’m fascinated with human nature and thrilled that this show will allow me the opportunity to connect with real people and explore their stories on a personal level,” Probst said in a statement. “As I continue with ‘Survivor,’ I am excited to extend my relationship with CBS and with this new adventure in the world of daytime.”

In the past several years, Probst was often floated as a possible replacement for Regis Philbin on “Live with Regis & Kelly,” since he’s filled in often for Philbin and was well-liked by viewers.

(A replacement for Philbin, who’s retiring from “Live” in November, has yet to be named. I’m pulling for Ernie Borgnine, but that’s me.)

Probst’s desire to “connect with real people and explore their stories on a personal level” was on display in his prime-time CBS special, “Live for the Moment,” which aired in January 2010 and featured Probst offering a man suffering from ALS the chance to fulfill his dreams before becoming incapacitated from the disease.
