STARR REPORT
She’s Hart-stopping
You’ll see Mary Hart in her usual “ET” perch tonight at 7:30 on Ch. 2 – and immediately afterward when she does a cameo turn opposite Jamie Gertz and Mark Addy on the CBS sitcom “Still Standing.”
“So often I end up playing my self on ‘ET,’ reading a piece of copy on the [show’s] set,” Hart said. “This role is unique because I have to act more. In all honesty it was quite nerve-wracking because I had to memorize lines.”
Mary’s scene takes place at a school fundraiser, where her character unwittingly bids on Bill and Judy’s unsavory auction item – a night of “Beef and Teeth” (home made rib dinner followed by a tooth-and-gum cleaning). She then tries to take back her bid – with Bill telling her, “No backsies!”
“I’m bidding on what I think is a month’s worth of tae kwon do lessons but I realize I signed the wrong sheet,” she said. “I realize I made a humongous mistake and I start to cross my bid off – but Bill starts to chastise me.”

So imagine Ellen DeGeneres’ surprise when, during a remote piece in which she went trick-or-treating (a month early), she knocked on a door in a nearby L.A. neighborhood – only to be greeted by actor Paul Dooley and his wife, writer Winnie Holzman.
Ellen, dressed as a bobcat, was greeted by a bathrobe-clad Dooley – who graciously greeted Ellen (and even gave her some candy). It airs today (10 a.m./Ch. 4).
Last, but not least:
* NBC moves the struggling “LAX” to Wednesdays (8 p.m.) on Oct. 27. It’ll be replaced for three Mondays beginning Nov. 8 (10 p.m.) with a new reality show, “$25 Million Dollar Hoax.” After that, it’s anyone’s guess what’ll air in that slot.
* CNN’s Judy Woodruff emcees tomorrow’s International Women’s Media Foundation’s “Courage in Journalism Awards” at the Waldorf.
* “The Early Show” commemorates Breast Cancer Awareness Month today through Saturday (7-9 a.m./ Ch. 2) by giving away pink merchandise. The first 150 people to get a number on the CBS Plaza (59th and Fifth) will go home with a featured item.
* Mickey Dolenz’s mug now up at The Palm; Hank Lane on the dais for Donald Trump’s Friars Club roast last Friday.
