STARR REPORT
Of mics and (wo)men
Forget all the designer-this and designer-that during Sunday’s Oscars – no one else but TV Guide Channel’s Joan Rivers and daughter Melissa will be able to boast about, get this, diamond-encrusted microphones. Really. Famed jewelry designer Gigi has fashioned the mics, valued at $1 million each, out of black-and-white diamonds and rare pigeon- blood-color, diamond-cut rubies measuring 200 carats (pigeon blood?). Joan and Melissa will use the mics in their pre-show coverage.
Elsewhere on the awards scene, “Queer Eye” guy Carson Kressley and Ch. 11’s Toni Senecal will cover Saturday’s Independent Spirit Awards red-carpet arrivals for Bravo (9-10 p.m.). Kressley will also get the chance to shop at the on-site gift lounge produced by On 3 Productions which features gifts from Banana Republic and NetFlix, among others.
Last, but not least:
