Not many rappers use their kids as a fashion accessory, but Ja Rule proudly walked down the red carpet at the MTV Video Music Awards this year with his 2-year-old on his shoulders.

“My kid has talent already,” the gravel-voiced artist told The Post. “He can sing songs that are on the radio. He tries to rhyme the words. It’s amazing. His name is Young Rule.”

Daddy Rule is anticipating the release of his fourth album, “The Last Temptation,” out in stores Tuesday.

Rule catapulted to fame this year with three No. 1 singles: “I’m Real” with Jennifer Lopez, “Down Ass Chick” with Charli Baltimore and “Always on Time” with Ashanti, as well as a chart-topping album titled “Pain Is Love.”

The entertainer, originally from Queens, – born Jeffrey Atkins – can also be seen in the new movie “Half Past Dead,” opposite Steven Seagal.

Rule – who also starred in “The Fast and the Furious” – plays an inmate in Alcatraz who aides Seagal, an undercover cop, in persuading a death row inmate to reveal the whereabouts of $200 million worth of gold. “The story gets twisted in a whole lot of different ways, and it gets kinda crazy,” says Rule, whose stage name is an acronym for “Jeffrey Atkins Represents Unconditional Love Existence.”

“I don’t want to give it all away, but I think y’all [will] enjoy it a lot.” The 26-year-old actor/writer/rapper lives with his wife, Aisha, and their two kids, Britney, 7, and Jeff Jr., 2.

Q: What’s the inspiration for your new album, “The Last Temptation?”

A: Oh, man. Just what I’ve been doing through these last four years. From all the musical stuff that I’ve been through, all the different collaborations, all the success that I’ve had, from being the underdog to being the one aimed at. It’s kind of a 360 switch.

Q: Describe your personal style.

A: I mix it up a lot, but it all flows together. Right now, I’ve got on a pair of Reeboks with the gum sole and a Gucci button-up. And jeans with a bandanna.

Q: Favorite designers?

A: I like Gucci and Armani down to Phat Farm. And Mogul – that’s my clothing line. I haven’t put it out yet. I’m still doing a lot of sampling.

Q: What can we expect?

A: It’s high-end fashion, it’s street apparel, it’s everything. It’s going to feel luxurious. I’m going to touch every angle – from big women’s clothes to big men’s clothes. Big women should be sexy too.

Q: Do you work out?

A: I am my own personal trainer. It’s the Ja Rule workout. It’s mostly made up of jail exercises like push-ups, pull-ups, dips, a lot of calisthenics, leg throws and body curls. People aren’t accustomed to those exercises, but they really get you in shape.

Q: Do you follow a special diet?

A: I like to eat chicken Caesar salad. I eat a lot of oatmeal – a bowl at night and a big bowl in the morning. That’s because right now I’m on a weight-training program. I need to put on some pounds for my next film, “Bone Deep.”

Q: What gives you substance?

A: My family and kids. My son has no problem saying, “Shut up, Daddy!”

Q: How do you accessorize?

A: Hats, scarves. You know, sometimes a glove – just one, though. One baseball glove. I don’t like to wear them both. You wear them both, you look like you’re up to something.

Q: Whose style do you most admire?

A: Gwen Stefani. Free-spirited people that do what they like to do – like myself.

Q: What would you love to own but would never buy for yourself?

A: To me, there’s nothing too ridiculous. I’ve been poor a long time, so if you want a shoelace that costs a million dollars, go ahead, baby, go for it.

Q: What was your last splurge?

A: I just bought the new Mercedes-Benz Maybach. I had to purchase it in order to get my name [on the waiting list]. You get to make the car yourself. You get to go into the warehouse and you pick your color, you pick your interior. They measure you for your seating. They do all that good s- – -.

Q: What would you never wear?

A: Tight jeans, tight like Lenny Kravitz tight. Or a frilly shirt like Prince. If you ever catch me in that, please slap the s- – – out of me.
