Sometimes, as Mama lies in her bed at night before the Ambien kicks in, she thinks of questions about her favorite shows. Here are a few for this week:
* “Supernatural” (Thursday, 9 p.m., CW): Is “Supernatural” the new “Buffy”? Mama thinks so. The cult spookfest is self-aware and delightfully funny, even when its stories dip into timeworn wells like this week’s body-switch tale. When a nerd conjures a spell to change places with Sam (Jared Padalecki), he takes advantage of his new looks and abs to hit on women, while Sam is forced to do homework. Will it be as classic as Michael McKean taking over Fox Mulder’s body? Probably not, but it will certainly be fun.
* “Chuck” (Monday, 8 p.m., NBC): Since “Chuck” is made up of about 40 percent pop culture references, don’t you think they have to call attention to the fact that in this episode, they have both Kristin Kreuk, Superman’s girlfriend from “Smallville,” and Brandon Routh, the most recent Superman?
* “Dollhouse” (Friday, 8 p.m., Fox): So remember “Epitaph One,” the episode that Fox didn’t air but ended up being crucial to the series’ mythology? Well, tonight’s series finale is called “Epitaph Two,” so if you didn’t see the first one, you’re pretty much sunk — athough if you’re still watching, chances are pretty high you did. Mama thinks it’s a shame this series didn’t work out: It was an intriguing premise hampered by some clumsy execution. But it’ll probably play more smoothly on DVD.
* “Human Target” (Wednesday, 8 p.m., Fox): Is it just Mama, or is this show made of cool? We all knew Mark Valley and Chi McBride would ramp up “Target”’s hip factor, but how awesome is Jackie Earle Haley as badass Guerrero? He intimidates the bad guys like he did in “Watchmen,” only without the full face mask. In this week’s episode, there’s a black-tie affair at an embassy, an international arms deal, a beautiful woman — you know the drill.
