ABSTRACT:

With its authentic French bistro ambiance, it’s hard to imagine that Avenue’s space, just over a year ago, housed a shoddy, Gump-ish joint called Fish Shack. That’s because owners Scott Campbell (former chef of Vince and Eddie’s) and his wife, Linda, have gone to great lengths to transform the spot into an exquisite Parisian style cafe, complete with grand chandeliers, antique mirrors and other elegant touches.

And with an enticing menu that clearly understands fickle New York palates, it appears that – voila ! – French style will become a standard on the Upper West Side.

Opened last June, Avenue has not only become a place to enjoy dinner, but it’s also where neighborhood residents flock for breakfast and lunch.

Avenue: 520 Columbus Ave. (at Street)
