TWITTER, Facebook and text messaging don’t hold a candle to television as far as American teenagers are concerned.

Teens are watching the tube more than ever, up 6 percent over the last five years, according to a recent Nielsen study.

They’re also spending 35 percent less time watching online videos than adults age 25 to 34 are.

Yet it turns out that teens are better at recalling ads aired during online screenings than they are at remembering the same ads when they’re broadcast on TV.

While much is made of teens’ being enamored of the Internet, they actually spend less time surfing the Web than adults do.

Teens are online for an average of 11 hours and 32 minutes a month, while adults clock in at nearly 30 hours a month.

American Idol” is a shared interest between teens and adults, though. The singing competition ranked as the top show in the nation in 2008.
