Married to fellow painter Diego Rivera,Kahlo,despite a crippling injury,became a famed painter in her own right and
took the art world by storm.She also became a latter-day 20th century feminist icon and was the subject of an Oscar-winning biopic that starred Salma Hayek. Kahlo ‘s artistic origins,styles and political leanings – she had an affair with Leon Trotsky – are all explored.The documentary is narrated by actress Rita Moreno.
