The fifth-season premiere averaged 9.7 million viewers – the show’s lowest rating ever for an original episode (excluding Thanksgiving night).

It also finished fourth in most key demos and in total viewers from 9 to 10 p.m. behind CBS, Fox (“24“) and ABC (“The Bachelor“).
