Sheen takes ‘Wing’

The other President is coming to town this week.

Martin Sheen, who plays President Josiah Bartlett on NBC’s “The West Wing,” will be here tomorrow to address about 700 high school students at the 22nd Annual College Media Convention at Columbia University (1-3 p.m. in Miller Theater).

Sheen, joined by “West Wing” cast members Allison Janney (press secretary C.J. Gregg) and Dule Hill (personal aide Charlie Young), and show producer Llewellyn Wells, will screen an episode of the show, followed by a 45-minute Q&A.

Jane takes a bow

Here’s one for the “Who Knew?” department: “Early Show” co-host Jane Clayson plays a mean violin.

On yesterday’s show, Pierre Constant, 15, was playing his violin outside the “Early Show” studios when he was invited in by Clayson and co-host Bryant Gumbel, who urged Clayson to join Constant as he played Jules Massenett’s “Meditation.”

Clayson, who attended college on a violin scholarship — and won the International Youth and Music Festival in Vienna, Austria in 1984 — joined Constant, even though she hadn’t played her violin in a while.
