THE STARR REPORT
Good enough to eat
Troubled ex-“Superman” star Margot Kidder will resurface in a three-episode arc of “Peter Benchley’s Amazon” which kicks off Saturday, April 22 (6 p.m. on Ch.9).
In the storyline, Kidder plays Morag, a woman who’s dropped out of society to become an eco-terrorist and the matriarch of the cannibalistic Jaguar tribe.
Kidder has also appeared on television in “La Femme Nikita” and “One Woman’s Courage” since making a comeback of sorts from her ongoing battles with manic-depression.
Club love for FNC
Fox News Channel’s “Fox and Friends” has many more fans than NBC’s “Today” show — at least in the world of Yahoo! online chat clubs.
The “Fox and Friends” chat club in yahoo.com boasts over 1,200 members since it was established in February, focusing on co-hosts Steve Doocy, E.D. Donahey and Brian Kilmeade. It’s also received nearly 63,000 page hits.
Compare that to only 23 members for the “Today” club, established in January 1999, and a lonely three members for ABC’s “Good Morning America” — but that club was established only last week (April 6).
CBS’ “Early Show” doesn’t have a chat club yet — but there is a small club devoted to “Early Show” newsreader Julie Chen.
And there are two pages devoted to “Today” co-host Katie Couric — an “infobabe” page with 32 members and a “Katie Couric Lovers” page with 97 members.
It Pax a punch
Don’t fret if you miss a Ch.4 newscast — you might be able to watch it again later on Pax TV’s Ch.31.
There’s nothing official yet, but NBC-owned Ch.4 is apparently talking to Pax about a deal in which Ch.31 would air a repeat of a Ch.4 newscast.
As Broadcasting & Cable reported last weekend, NBC — which owns 32 percent of Pax — has struck deals in 10 markets, including Miami, in which the local NBC stations will share their newscasts with the local Pax station.
In the Miami scenario, Pax’s WPXM is re-airing WTVJ’s 11 p.m. newscast — with different ads.
This just in . . .
On tonight’s “60 Minutes II” (9 p.m. on Ch.2): Examining the case of Jerry Hogue, executed in Texas in 1998. But was he innocent?
