Hugh betcha!

Jack Benny, Henny Youngman, Hugh Fink . . .

Hugh Fink? Yep – the “Saturday Night Live” writer is also a violin-playing stand-up comic who’s bringing his act to Carnegie Hall on Thursday, June 8 as part of the Toyota Comedy Festival.

Fink, a classically trained violinist, was responsible for David Spade’s “Hollywood Minute” pieces on “SNL” and now crafts opening-monologue and topical jokes for NBC’s late-night warhorse. He also hosted his own Comedy Central half-hour comedy special last year.

In other “SNL” news, longtime show insiders Cheryl Hardwick and Bob Van Ry are leaving after 25 years.

Hardwick has been co-musical director and a member of the “Saturday Night Live Band” since 1975 – its first year on the air. Van Ry has also been with “SNL” since 1975, overseeing the studio floor.

Marvin’s Bronx tale

You can take the boy out of the Bronx, but . . .

Ch. 11’s Marvin Scott was inducted into the Bronx Walk of Fame yesterday.

Marvin was born and raised in the Bronx, “and started my career there chasing fire engines,” he says.

Other inductees yesterday included “Sopranos” cast member Vincent “Big Pussy” Pastore and Dolores Hope, wife of Bob Hope.

The producers

With Michael Kane coming on board at Ch. 2, former 6 p.m. news producer Chad Matthews has moved over to Ch. 7, where he’ll produce the 6 p.m. news.

Meanwhile, ex-Ch. 2 newsie Jacqueline Barnathan is now at the “CBS Evening News” working as a segment producer for Dan Rather.

This just in . . .

Melinda Murphy has joined “The WB11 Morning News” as a traffic/feature reporter. The show kicks off next month.

“It’s Just Sex” on tonight’s “48 Hours” (10 p.m. on Ch. 2) – as Peter Van Sant follows a couple of swingers in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. A&E presents “Smooth Operators Week” on “Biography” this week (8 p.m.): Leslie Nielsen, Patrick Swayze, Michael Douglas, Robert Wagner, George Hamilton.

Eli Wallach reminisces about Marilyn Monroe on tonight’s “Extra” (7 p.m. on Ch. 4).

Douglas Kennedy kicks off his weekly series, “Douglas Kennedy’s Power to the People,” tonight (10 p.m.) on Fox News Channel’s “The Edge with Paula Zahn.”
