THE STARR REPORT
Odds are that one of ’em will win ‘S2’
Intertops.com, which has been tracking “Survivor 2” as the only “S2” online betting site, has updated its odds now that Amber Brkich was booted off the show last Thursday night.
As it stands now, here are the odds on the “S2” final five: Colby Donaldson (9-5), Elisabeth Filarski (2-1), Tina Wesson (5-2), Rodger Bingham (4-1) and Keith Famie.
Intertops reports that it has accepted over 6,500 bets for a total of $91,000 on the ultimate “S2” winner – revealed during its May 3 finale.
‘Producers’ producesanother Collins special
Ch. 9’s Pat Collins has assembled a two-hour “Broadway Opening Night” special encompassing Mel Brooks’ “The Producers,” which is receiving the best out-of-town raves in years and has already generated over $13 million in sales – all before opening at the St. James here on Thursday.
Collins’ look at the show, airing this Sunday (8-10 p.m./Ch. 9), includes interviews with stars Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick, Brooks and Gene Wilder, who originated the role of Leo Bloom opposite the late Zero Mostel in the 1968 movie classic.
“What I loved about Gene was that, when I asked him who was funnier – Zero Mostel or Nathan Lane – he said, ‘Zero was great to me, but Nathan is funnier,'” says Collins.
This will be Collins’ 16th “Broadway Opening Night” special, with a twist: A waiver allowing Collins to screen 45 minutes of stage footage from “The Producers” – rather than the usual 17 minutes allowed.
“We can’t show ‘Springtime for Hitler’ but we’ll be showing bits and snippets of everything else,” says Collins, referring to the show’s famous “musical” number.
“We’ll be there on opening night, live to tape, and we’ll be at the cast party afterward at Roseland,” she says. “This show is going to be a long hit – and a big hit.”
Collins reveals that Brooks – who appeared in a fleeting cameo in the movie (in the “Springtime for Hitler” scene) – actually recorded a new version of those same lines for the Broadway show (they’ll be lip-synched by another actor).
