THEY DIED IN PRIMETIME
DEAR Friends,
We are gathered here today to pay our respects to the characters on primetime shows who met their untimely deaths in 2008.
They all died tragically (this is television, no one dies in a New Jersey nursing home surrounded by family and loved ones).
Nine times out 10, their deaths were a shock. That’s what they were meant to be. Why else kill off a perfectly good character if not to shake us up?
Blame David Chase and “The Sopranos” for that.
Before he started bumping off the characters like “Big Pussy” and Adriana, TV viewers were pretty safe in the assumption that the longtime stars of a show were pretty much safe from week to week.
Not anymore.
So here, in no particular order, is our year-end tribute to the loved (and not-so-loved) ones we lost.
RIP. Rest in primetime.
