Lester Holt needs a new alarm clock.
The weekend anchor for NBC’s “Today” overslept this morning – and only arrived to Rockefeller Center 40 minutes before airtime.
Holt admitted to the sleep-in gaffe on Twitter and spent the first few minutes of Saturday’s newscast stewing as co-anchor Jenna Wolfe poked fun at Holt’s tardiness.
Wolfe opened the newscast by discussing “Eastwooding,” the new Twitter craze of speaking to an empty chair sparked by Clint Eastwood’s RNC speech.
“You know who else was almost sitting next to an empty chair this morning?” Wolfe asked.
“I only got here a llittle while ago,” Holt pleaded. “I set it for 4:15, but it didn’t go off.”
“AM or PM?” Wolfe asked, ribbing her usually-punctual co-anchor.
