WE know that “Today” co- host Matt Lauer reads The Post – since he referred to our exclusive story about Alyson Hannigan while interviewing the “American Wedding” star yesterday.

“There’s a lot of talk about you right now,” “There was one of the local papers [that’s us!] in New York this morning talking about [how] you are a very hot commodity,” Lauer said to Hannigan. – “especially when it comes to television sitcoms right now.”

“So what would be the ideal role for you in a sitcom?” Lauer asked. “What would you play … I’m trying to give the people at NBC a hint as to what to offer you here.”

“I know. Oh gosh!” Hannigan replied. “I don’t know. And I don’t want to jinx things.”

Lauer playfully threatened Hannigan if she went ot another nework.

“Hopefully, we’ll get to work with you here at NBC and . . . if not, then we’ll just never talk about you again,” he joked.

“Matt, would like like to be my agent?” Hannigan said at one point. “Because you’re really good.”
