Don’t be intimidated by the questions you’ll find on the online applications for reality shows. Here are some sample
answers to tricky ones.
* “EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION”
What makes you deserving of a home makeover?
Good answer: I’m a single nurse squeezed into a two-bedroom house with five kids (two sets of twins) and my elderly mom.
Bad answer: I live alone in a giant TriBeCa loft and I just want it to feel like home.
* “THE BIGGEST LOSER”
Have you tried to lose weight?
Good answer: Yes. I’ve tried everything, from Atkins to Jenny Craig to Weight Watchers. I need someone to push me beyond the limit.
Bad answer: No. I’m happy being this size and my husband loves it too.
* “FEAR FACTOR”
Have you ever been charged with any crimes, including a misdemeanor or a felony? If yes, please explain briefly:
Good answer: In college, I was busted for smoking marijuana and they locked me in a jail cell over night to teach me a lesson.
Bad answer: No, I’ve never been caught.
* “THE APPRENTICE”
Where do you see yourself five years from now?
Good answer: I better be running my own company or I’ll leave the country.
Bad answer: I don’t care as long as I’m healthy.
Tell us an embarrassing story about yourself:
Good answer: I farted at Christmas dinner. Or my parents/kids caught me having sex.
Bad answer: Nothing embarrassing ever happens to me.
* “SURVIVOR’
What is your current occupation?
Good answer: A river raft guide or a psychologist.
Bad answer: An actor.
List three items you would take with you to a remote location:
Good answer: Playboy magazine, a bottle of Jack Daniels, a fly swatter.
Bad answer: Suntan lotion, beach ball and hairbrush.
What’s the craziest thing you’d do for $1 million?
Good answer: I’ll eat tarantulas. Run naked across the field at the Super Bowl. I’ll throw eggs at a star’s house.
Bad answer: Why don’t you test me and find out?
* “AMERICAS NEXT TOP MODEL”
Who is your favorite supermodel?
Good answer: Twiggy. I love those eyelashes, and she is the epitome of fashion chic.
Bad answer: Janice Dickinson, because she’s had so much work done.
