TWISTED HUMOR IN SPACE
MUTANT ALIENS
A new film from Bill Plympton, the animation master, is always welcome.
This one is a sci-fi adventure of sorts.
An astronaut blasts off into space, leaving behind his young daughter. But the mission is sabotaged by an evil doctor.
Twenty years later – the daughter now a woman – dad unexpectedly returns to Earth, seeking vengeance on the bad doctor.
If you’re looking for bland Disney-esque animation, “Mutant Aliens” most definitely is not for you. It’s full of Plympton’s trademark twisted humor, with lots of sex thrown in.
Running time: 83 minutes. Not rated (sex). At the Cinema Village, 11th Street, between Fifth Avenue and University Place.
