U2’S ‘BOMB’ IS NO BOMB
IRISH superstars U2 dropped a “Bomb” on the charts, selling 840,000 copies of their new disc, “How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb.”
That earned U2 the No. 1 spot atop the Billboard charts, according to Nielsen Soundscan, with the biggest first week sales for a rock band this year.
Eminem‘s “Encore” dropped down a notch to second place, and Destiny’s Child also lost some footing, with “Destiny Fulfilled” falling to No. 4. Country records by Shania Twain (No. 3) and Toby Keith (No. 5) round out the top five list.
Gwen Stefani‘s highly anticipated solo effort “Love, Angel, Music, Baby” debuted at No. 7, moving 309,000 copies, while “American Idol” Fantasia‘s “Free Yourself” entered at No. 8.
