‘Voice’ getting bigger
‘The Voice” is getting louder.
NBC’s latest singing competition series did the unusual by improving five percent on its premiere episode ratings.
Tuesday night’s blind audition episode drew 12.4 million total viewers — an increase of 625,000 viewers.
In its target 18-to-49 demo, “The Voice” increased by an impressive 10 percent, making it the first new series on ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox to have actually grown in that demo this season.
It also came in No. 1 in the demo, beating out hit series “Glee,” “NCIS” and “Dancing With the Stars” for the advertising target audience.
“The Voice” is NBC’s latest attempt at creating a singing competition series to rival the success of Fox’s “American Idol.”
Mark Burnett’s take on the Netherlands’ “The Voice of Holland” sees superstar musicians Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine acting as judges and mentors of teams of singers that they’ve each selected.
