What’s it about: In the mythical ancient world of the Jade Empire, you’re a martial arts student, learning fighting styles and gaining mystical powers. When danger strikes, you travel through the empire, facing off against human and supernatural enemies to become the ultimate martial arts master.

What we like: If your foe seems too hard – or easy – to beat, you can change the difficulty level from “student” to “master” at any point. And no, it’s not cheating.

What we don’t: When replaying a section, you’ve got to sit through long dialogue sequences over (and over) again.

Best for: Future black belts
