DON’T be shocked if you can’t quite place the accent of Amanda Byram, who’s hosting Fox’s newest reality show, “The Swan.”

You’re not alone.

“It’s funny, a lot of people ask me that – they can’t quite place [the accent],” says Byram. “I grew up in Dublin [Ireland] and then was back and forth to Britain for four years before moving to Los Angeles.

“I lived in London and I’ve been kind of bandied about,” says Byram, who started her TV career on “Ireland A.M.” before moving to London to host “The Big Breakfast.”

“I’ve got more of a neutral accent,” she says. “Every now and then the Irish comes out. It’s actually Irish mixed with English mixed with a California twang.

“I tend to keep it quite basic for TV. When I was on ‘The Big Breakfast’ it was a ‘wild! wacky!‘ kind of voice,” she says. “It depends on the job, I suppose.”

Viewers might recognize Byram as the host of “Paradise Hotel,” which was her first American TV gig.

In “The Swan,” women are remodeled through plastic surgery, culminating in a “beauty pageant.” The show’s been a hit, averaging 11.7 million viewers in its first two episodes.

Byram is heard via voiceover on each episode and is seen with the women – usually wearing a slinky dress and adorned with jewels.

“The kind of stuff I’m doing at the moment is a very matriarchal role, which was the same role I had in ‘Paradise Hotel’ – it’s a ‘giving’ role, being a big sister of sorts, with a certain properness,” she says.

“It’s all very glamorous – at least it looks glamorous – but there’s a lot of walking up and down stairs about 400 times until we get the lighting and directorial shots correct.

“I just love what I do,” she says. “I used to model years and years ago, way in the distant ether, and, to be honest, I’d rather be standing there in PJs or sneakers. I never dress up apart from work.

“But, yes, it’s a glamorous lifestyle – I would never sit here and say my life is crap,” she says.

“I’m not complaining.”
