FOX News Channel axed host Paula Zahn yesterday for what it called a breach of contract.

FNC fired Zahn, who anchored the prime-time news show “The Edge,” after learning she was in talks with CNN to host a new morning show for the rival news network.

“Fox News regards breach of contract as a serious and intolerable offense,” said Jack Abernethy, FNC executive vice president, in a prepared statement.

Zahn’s contract reportedly precluded her from negotiating with other networks until next March – but she was considering a $2-million offer from CNN.”This isn’t about money,” CNN honcho Walter Isaacson told The Post. “This is about Paula wanting to come to CNN and CNN wanting Paula.”

“It is unfortunate that Fox chose to end their relationship with Zahn in this way,” a spokesman for Zahn said.

Fox News Channel is a division of News Corp. which also owns The Post.
