And then there were three?

Real Housewives of New Jersey” co-star Danielle Staub won’t return to the Bravo series for a third season, according to a report in Life & Style magazine.

Staub’s axing “came as a complete shock” to her, an insider told Life & Style, since Staub figured she would be returning to the show.

Staub, 48, has been nothing but trouble since the Jersey “Housewives” kicked off in May 2009.

She’s bickered with her fellow cast members since Day One, and it was subsequently discovered she’d been arrested on drug and extortion charges in 1986 under her birth name, Beverly Merrill.

She’s also been involved in a sex-tape controversy.

If Staub leaves, the Jersey “Housewives” would be down to three cast members — Caroline Manzo, bankrupt Teresa Guidice and Jacqueline Laurita.

Original cast member Dina Manzo announced she was leaving the show after appearing in the first half of Season 2.

But if “Housewives” does return for a third season, which is likely, Bravo would probably recruit a few newbies for the cast, or even bring back Dina — who said she left the show because she couldn’t stand Staub.

The second-season “Jersey Housewives” finale airs Aug. 23, followed by a two-part “reunion show” (Aug. 30, Sept. 6).

A Bravo spokeswoman had no comment yesterday on the Staub report.

“We’re focused on Season 2,” she said.
