The accused ambulance-joyride killer of EMT and mom-of-five Yadira Arroyo is trying to dodge a murder trial by being found mentally unfit, but he still knows his way around a courtroom, according to testimony in an ongoing Bronx competency hearing.

“They are trying to send me to jail,” José Gonzalez said when asked to describe the prosecutor’s role. “The judge’s job is to be fair. The jury is to send me home.”

Dr. Barry Winkler, the city shrink who found Gonzalez unfit in Arroyo’s March 2017 death, testified Wednesday that Gonzalez “rambled” when asked about the charges he faces.
