It’s all about love for one special boy.
Nike Garza, who spent half his life in foster care, has finally found his forever family — and enjoyed a huge celebration with 300 well-wishers to let him know how much he’s loved.
The overjoyed second-grader was fêted by loved ones last week when his adoption was made official inside a Collin County, Texas, courtroom. Armed with “May the Schwartz be with you” T-shirts, the adorable 8-year-old was formally adopted by David and Kristi Schwartz, who have two other children, including another adopted child.
The pint-size Dallas Cowboys fan was treated to epic swag, according to the local CBS affiliate, including a signed football by his favorite player, Dak Prescott, along with the entire 2019 team.
Buckner International, the agency that facilitated Nike’s adoption, tweeted, “Nike Garza has been in #fostercare for 1,553 days (half of his life), and today he was #adopted by his forever family. Thank you to the @dallascowboys for making Nike’s #adoption day even more special! #HopeShinesHere.”
The tweet was accompanied by a heartwarming video of the youngster ensconced warmly by friends and — new — family.
It’s a happy ending for Nike, especially considering that about 443,000 kids are currently in foster care in the US. Other kids who have warmed the internet’s heart include a 5-year-old in Michigan whose entire kindergarten class flooded the courtroom to root for him at his tear-jerking adoption hearing, and a Georgia girl who broke down in sobs after learning on her birthday that she’d be adopted.
