Two numbers synonymous with tragedy are sheer joy for one Tennessee family.

Nine-pound, 11 ounce Christina Malone-Brown was born at 9:11 p.m. on 9/11 at a Germantown, Tennessee, hospital.

The circumstances of her birth are “one in a million,” said Janet Callicott, a nurse at the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit told the Commercial Appeal.

The anniversary of the terror attacks is now a day of happy memory to Christina’s family, said Cametrione Malone-Brown, Christina’s mother.

“She comes in on 9/11, there was so much devastation but she’s bringing all this joy and life into the world, because everybody’s been waiting on her,” she said.

Malone-Brown, of Southaven, Mississippi, arrived at the hospital having contractions, and the C-section incision began around 9 p.m., her husband, Justin Brown said. The doctor pronounced the birth at 9:11 p.m. and the baby was weighed at 9 lbs, 11 ounces.

“The whole time (the doctor) was stitching her back up, she couldn’t believe it, she kept saying, ‘Oh my goodness, I’ve got a 9/11, 9/11, 9/11,” Justin Brown said.

Her father said it will be important to teach Christina about the events that took place on her birthday when she’s older.
