A London artist captured the essence of the Big Apple to its core – in a stunning sketch of the iconic skyline.

Patrick Vale spent an afternoon atop Rockefeller Center, where he made rough drawings, took photos and shot video, which he later used to create “Colossus,” the Daily Mail reported.

“It was often a case of taking a quick look and making reference of any particular points of interest,” said Vale, 35, whose interest in architecture was sparked as a child when his dad returned from business trips to the US with pictures.

Vale said it took four weeks to create his work with just one pen – as he ate bagels.

“It was freezing at the top of the Rockefeller, about (5 degrees Fahrenheit), so I had to spend a lot of time going in and out,” he said. “It was often a case of taking a quick look and making reference of any particular points of interest.”

He said he drew the Empire State Building a couple of years ago.

“But it wasn’t near the scale of this project. I’ve always wanted to do a project like this, but have found myself too busy,” he said.
