We hear that Bella Luna recently reopened half a block away from its original Upper West Side location, which opened in 1988 from restaurateur Turgut Balikci.

The new, light-filled space at 574 Columbus Ave. comes with a bigger kitchen, the same exec chef, German “Primo” Angelo, and the same reasonable prices for neighborhood Italian comfort food.

The space was a general market in the 1890s; a speakeasy-eatery run by William Pogue during and after Prohibition, from 1933 to 1968, and a flower shop, Secret Garden. Specialties include capellini alla campagnola, warm goat cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, broccoli, garlic and olive oil… and pizzas.

WE HEAR… that Red Velvet NYC, the popular DIY cupcake kit making service, also delivers other desserts for busy chefs, including kits for Chocolate Pecan Torte, Panna Cotta and Sour Cream Coffee Cake. The pretty boxes range from $20 to $36.

Thin, DIY dessert kits for dummies. Recipes are “fool proof,” says Red Velvet CEO Agathe Assouline-Lichten.
