A new Indian restaurant, Chawla’s 2 US, recently opened its first Manhattan location, an 1,100-square foot, 30-seat eatery at 216 Third Ave. at 19th Street.
Founded in 1960 in India by S. Attar Singh Chawla, Chawla’s 2 now has 110 locations in India, and also has franchises in Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
Jagdeep Singh owns Chawla’s master franchises for the United States. Singh opened the first Chawla’s in Queens in 2015. Gramercy is the second US location.
Singh is currently scouting locations in Jersey City and around colleges in the city uptown and downtown.
