Skeptics who doubt Cynthia Nixon’s political bona fides need look no further than the top of her head.

The gubernatorial hopeful already has a critical advantage in the often ugly world of campaigning: candidate hair.

As recently as this fall, the left-leaning former “Sex and the City” actress sported a shorter ’do with spiky bangs. And at the IFP Gotham awards, her hair was sleekly slicked back for the occasion.

But for the campaign trail, Nixon has opted for a soft honey-blond crop — a look in complete accordance with the unofficial style playbook of politicians. See: Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand and Hillary Clinton.

In fairness, this style isn’t a wild departure for Nixon. Although she’s played around with several different vibes in the past — a deep-red short pixie in 1999, a flowy mane in 2006, a streaked layer cut in 2008 — Nixon has mostly hewed close to her current style and palette for decades.

It’s unclear if this is a calculated cut or a trim on a whim, but the hair color, at least, is a power move. According to 2016 research out of the University of British Columbia on women in power, 48 percent of female chief executives at S&P 500 companies and 35 percent of female US senators are blondes.

As long as Nixon’s hair holds out, this candidate has nowhere to go but Albany.
