Perhaps Leatherface had a summer retreat.
A house that rivals the set of “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” was discovered in rural England where hooked animal carcasses and shotgun shells — along with a rusty chainsaw — filled the dilapidated property.
But the real story behind this Herefordshire property is more somber than it is horrifying. The abandoned home was once well-operated by a local farmer and his wife for half a century.
But when the couple passed in the early 2000s, their son was unable to manage the property and left it to deteriorate as he struggled with the death of his parents, according to Martyna Bochetin, a social media explorer known online as Urbexquisite.
“I felt a mix of excitement and fear as the house was frozen in time with all of the belongings left behind,” she said, adding that half-drunk bottles were found in the kitchen.

Spooky photos show the run-down condition of an English home. mediadrumimages/urbexquisite“It was like someone left and never came back. It must have been a lovely house back in the days.”
Although animal bones and rotten meat had draped the house, Bochetin also found many charming pieces that reflected the likely quiet, rural lifestyle the couple enjoyed.
“My favorite part of the exploration was the living room with an old piano which is now rotting away, a beautiful collection of porcelain dining sets and figurines,” she told Media Drum.
The piano was both touching and spooky looking, said an explorer. mediadrumimages/urbexquisite
Meat carcasses hang from the home’s walls. mediadrumimages/urbexquisite“I also really liked one of the bedrooms with a beautiful Victorian bed, dressing table and vintage clothes still hanging in the wardrobes. There were plenty of old fashioned ladies shoes and jewelry …There were a lot of nice paintings.”
Still, the home’s decrepit condition was nothing subtle.

An abandoned farmhouse in England caught the eye of an explorer. mediadrumimages/urbexquisite“The building is very old so I had to be really careful with my steps as one of the bedrooms upstairs was completely collapsed,” Bochetin said.
