How the pooch stole Christmas.

A dog undoubtedly put a damper on an Oklahoma woman’s Christmas cheer by pilfering a present from her porch. Footage of the yuletide burglary has since gone viral.

Debbie Goines knew something was awry after a Christmas gift from her sister in California went missing, reports ABC7. Sure enough, footage from a doorbell camera revealed the culprit — a fluffy white dog that bounded up and swiped the parcel from her doorstep.

Goines says she contacted her neighbor, who revealed that the scruffy Scrooge was their golden retriever, Max. The homeowner suspects that Max was attracted to the snacks inside the package.

“I guess he just smelled the jerky and thought that it had been delivered to the wrong house,” she joked.

Despite Goines taking the theft in stride, Max has been punished for his bark-aneering. The apologetic neighbor reportedly put him in doggie detention and even offered to pay for damage done to Goines’ gift, which she declined.

Max isn’t the first animal to commandeer someone’s delivery this holiday season. Two weeks ago, a brazen squirrel snatched an Amazon package from a Los Angeles stoop in broad daylight. There’s also been a rash of less-cute porch thieves — including one who left behind a thank-you note on the doorstep of a poor Minnesota victim. Bah, humbug!
