This new sweet treat is spookily spicy.

Dunkin’ Donuts has released a new, seasonal donut pegged to Halloween: The scary hot Spicy Ghost Pepper donut — or pumpkin spice’s more savory cousin, if you will.

The new offering from the multinational coffee and donut retailer features strawberry, cayenne and ghost pepper-flavored icing topped with red sanding sugar “for a sizzling look,” the chain hypes in a press release.

“Halloween looks a little different this year, and so do our donuts. While our classic bakery offering has plenty of crave-worthy treats, we’re excited to show our spicy side with a donut that packs a touch of heat with something sweet and can be enjoyed any time of day,” said Jill Nelson, Dunkin’s vice president of marketing strategy, in the statement. “With our scary-good lineup of the Spicy Ghost Pepper Donut, Halloween DIY Dunkin’ Donut Decorating Kits, and fan-favorite Spider Donut, Dunkin’ is here to help our guests keep their Halloween spirit alive this season.”

The Ghost Pepper donut, released Wednesday, will be available at participating Dunkin’ stores in the US through December, while supplies last.

The company has also released a new Halloween DIY Dunkin’ Donut Decorating Kit line. The kits come in two sizes — large, featuring nine donuts, and small, featuring four — and include pre-packaged orange, white and black icing, three sprinkle blends and either plain yeast or Old Fashioned cake donuts.

Dunkin’ is also bringing back its Spider Donut for the season. The creepy creation features a classic ring donut with orange icing, eight chocolate drizzle spider legs, white icing eyes and a glazed chocolate Munchkin donut hole on top.

Halloween is set to be a rather dead affair this year, with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) having issued guidelines regarding trick-or-treating safety concerns and advising against costume masks as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
