The CFDA Awards are one of the biggest fashion events of the year, when the famous and stylish regale each other on being famous and stylish. Somewhere in the mix, talent is honored.

Smaller than the Met Gala (and notably non-thematic), the annual insider ceremony doesn’t leave much room for over-the-top catastrophes.  As such, most at Monday night’s ceremony looked perfectly fine.

There were some standouts, however, and even a few who fell short.

We’re not always 100 percent sold on Rihanna’s fashion escapades, but the singer showed up to accept Style Icon of the Year looking the closest to that she ever has. The “fabric” involved came courtesy of designer Adam Selman. Everything else was all Robyn Rihanna Fenty.

The Row founders are 27 going on 72 and always the chicest ones around, period.

Nyong’o kept it relatively casual in a jumpsuit by Suno, as if to say “let me give some of these other girls a chance.” Bless.

What could have veered impressively into “Valley of the Dolls” territory with this ’60s-ish Michael Kors shift Lively served up as busted Barbie doll blandness.

Earth to Teigen, this is an award ceremony, not a job interview. Take your all-purpose nude pumps and get the hell out of here.

This could have been OK, but the pea soup coloring is off-putting.

The dress is whatever; the real problem is the necklace that needs to be ripped off her neck.

The campiness of the outfit wouldn’t be as bad if the model didn’t look as brittle as chalk.
