A Détacher
The collection may have been dubbed “Grandma’s House,” but there was little at the A Détacher spring runway show that wouldn’t find a comfortable home in a city girl’s closet.
Following a theme that evokes the matronly isn’t a safe stunt to pull, but designer Monika Kowalska managed ready-to-wear that cleverly reappropriated an older woman’s wardrobe for a younger woman’s want list. There were polka dots printed on lightweight cardigans and shift dresses you might have actually inherited from your grandmother (if your grandmother happens to be, say, Twiggy). The clam-like paper bag pants would have made an excellent omission, but as for the sequined knit racerback harness that closed the show — sign me up!
