Some clothing is meant to be shown on the catwalk and some is better left for a presentation or one-on-one meeting.

Adam by Adam Lippes falls into the latter of these categories. It’s not that his clothes aren’t great – they are, but in a subtle way that got lost on the runway in Chelsea Sunday afternoon.

The hammered satin cargo pants that littered his show were great and definitely wearable. His sweaters, with new shapes, chiffon appliques and hand-knit details, would be at home in any chic woman’s closet. And the cinched-waist dresses in charmeuse and dutchess satin were simply lovely.

We’re just not sure they’ll get the attention they deserve, as the presentation kind of, well, fell flat.
