Badgley Mischka is the design team of Mark Badgley, born in 1961 in East St. Louis, Illinois, and James Mischka, born in 1960 in Burlington, Wisconsin. They met at New York’s Parsons the New School for Design in 1982. After graduation and separate apprenticeships – Badgley with Donna Karan and Mischka with Willi Smith – the pair formed their own company in 1988. They specialize in eveningwear, influenced by Hollywood icons such as Rita Hayworth and Marilyn Monroe, and stars and celebrities wear their unique brand of elegant style on countless red carpets, particularly on Oscar night.
