The mood was so light at the Badgley Mischka show that all attitudes fell to the wayside once photographers (clustered in the hole known as the photo pit) erupted into a chorus of “Happy Birthday” for one of their own.

Soon after, the design duo Badgley Mischka sent out a parade of puzzling skirt suits, most of which were shown in an unflattering ecru that aged even the most youthful-looking models. An eye-popping fuschia coatdress salvaged this series, and reminded one of something a modern-day Holly Golightly might pair with black satin gloves and strings of oversized pearls.

And then came dresses, dresses, and more dresses – makes sense, as Badgley and Mischka are known for their red-carpet showstoppers. Highlights included a glittery, brightly colored floral shift, and a yellow-and-white chiffon floor-length gown embellished with lemon-drop inspired balls. A frothy and delicious confection, indeed.

While lacking in wow-factor, this collection is full of pretty pickings for any benefit-hopping socialite.
