The Who: A sophisticated group of editors and buyers came to quietly take in the collection.

The What: While working on her fall pieces, Tfank found herself drawn to one of Henri Matisse’s “Odslisque” paintings, in which a woman lounges in a color and pattern-rich room. That influence led to Tfank’s use of French brocade, shimmery florals, and hints of drama with box pleating, rolled collars and fox fur. The clothes were luxurious without being flashy, and prim without being a bore. Michelle Obama wears Tfank often, and one didn’t have to stretch their imagination to picture her in any of t hese looks.

The Highlight: An eyelash brocade dress in persimmon was ethereal, especially so on model Damaris Lewis.

The Takeaway: We’ll gladly take anything the First Lady can’t fit into her closet off of Ms. Tfank’s hands.
