This season, Behnaz Sarafpour broke away from her classic dress collection and served up a bevy of seriously covetable separates. Sure, the oldies were still there (a ruffled LBD comes to mind, as does a glittery, figure-hugging frock), but “probably more than ever, I designed clothes that I would wear,” said the easygoing designer.

Unlike seasons past, Sarafpour ditched the runway and opted for a presentation, with models literally walking onto a photo shoot set to show off their look. A clever, insider-y idea that set a relaxed vibe during what can often be stiff settings.

And if there was one obvious theme, it was the designer’s tackling of textures: it appeared in the way of a popcorn-knit shrug, a dress with pinecone-inspired appliques, an exaggerated wide-leg pleated pant – even a lightweight blouse with the button closure running down the back. There was no shortage of fantastic coats and hats — all of which signaled a true feeling of fall clothes.

Despite the departure from a dress-heavy collection, the luxe vibe still radiated throughout the each garment. Bravo to Sarafpour for successfully reinventing the wheel while still remaining true to her chic aesthetic.
