In the intimate, clubby Monkey Bar, Jeffrey Monteiro unveiled his second collection for Bill Blass styled with Philip Crangi jewelery, Manolo Blahnik shoes and jaunty oversized fedoras by Albertus Swanepoel. The mostly black, off-white and navy collection was minimal and luxurious in all the right places — marching perfectly in step with the chic women whose calendar is booked with air kisses and cocktail parties. Black and white houndstooth was whipped into shorts and blazers, while feathers and fur were used sparingly on skirts and dresses. A modern tuxedo jacket with abbreviated tails is destined to be a classic piece in an uptown closet, and floor length jersey gowns in ruby were like the cherry on top.
