Totally funny sign outside the Lucky Brand store in Flatiron this morning. — How’s your Black Friday going? I’m at work, but on the way in this morning I checked out Herald Square (mobbed, but that’s just a usual Friday in that neighborhood…) and the Flatiron/Chelsea area. Downtown was a ghost town this morning around 10 a.m., but it’s probably totally swarmed now. I heard that people were lining up outside Best Buy in Union Square yesterday afternoon at 4 p.m. in anticipation of the store’s 3 a.m. opening this morning. Um, why? I don’t really get it. Sure, you can get a Sony laptop at Best Buy today for under $500, but is that really enough of a reason to camp out in the cold all night?
