Carolina Herrera never met a feminine silhouette she didn’t like. Her crisply-tailored collection for fall is smart, chic and swathed in elegance, much like the designer herself.

She opened with a simple grey dress coat: an investment piece that could be styled any which way (she topped it off with an amethyst velvet belt).

From there, it was a series of long, lean looks, including one particularly chic gold-sequin sweater tucked into a floor-length grey wool skirt.

Her color story included ruby red flannel capelet jackets, a luxe rusty sheared mink coat and an electric blue pencil dress with structured shoulders and a smart cinch at the waist: perfect for “Mad Men” star Christina Hendricks, who looked fabulous in a black and navy printed dress while perched front row and center.

Herrera closed with her usual fare of evening threads for the society set: beautiful liquid-treated ball gowns sewn onto turquoise bodices, a delicate gray sheath with light embellishment and an eggplant, long-sleeved trench gown: All were fashionable, yet still timeless enough for the lady who lunches…and then dashes from one gala on to the next.
