Brazilian jewelry house H.Stern is commemorating seven decades of designs in September with a newly renovated Fifth Avenue flagship and the launch of Genesis, a stellar line inspired by constellations and other celestial wonders.

In some pieces, noble is paired with 18-karat yellow gold.
“We wanted to create a memorable and genuine collection representing our origin and brand identity,” explains Roberto Stern, the company’s president and creative director, and eldest son of its founder, Hans Stern. “We’re excited to present something very new, but still iconic H.Stern.”

Hans, a German who fled from Nazi Germany in 1939, was one of the first people in Brazil to recognize the potential in colored gemstones like aquamarines and tourmalines. Thanks in large part to his marketing efforts, their allure is now recognized globally.
When Roberto took over the business in 1995, he made it his mission to push the brand toward high design, establishing collaborations with everyone from Diane von Furstenberg to legendary Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer.
“A big standout of H.Stern’s is their great range of designs, from beautiful colorful gemstone pieces, to bold, chunky rings, to architecturally inspired items,” notes Claudia Mata, jewelry and accessories director of W magazine, who is a professional and personal fan of the brand. “I’ve never worn a piece I didn’t get a compliment on, which is a bonus!”
