’Tis the season for spandex.
Just in time for the holidays, stars are swapping their sparkling party frocks for second-skin catsuits.
At Art Basel Miami Beach last week, Hailey Bieber looked like a walking bouquet in a colorful floral version of the look from Saint Laurent — a far cry from the slouchy suiting and streetwear she typically favors. Cardi B flaunted her famous curves in a quilted, sequined Chanel onesie modeled after one of the fashion house’s famous tweed jackets, and Taylor Swift sported a lacy one by Sarah Regensburger to perform at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Arguably leading the catsuit craze is London designer Richard Quinn, who regularly includes gimp masks and unitards in his collections and is a favorite of fashion-forward celebs, including “Queen’s Gambit” star Anya Taylor-Joy.
At the British Fashion Awards in November, Priyanka Chopra sported a flashy floral jumpsuit by Quinn, and 53-year-old Kylie Minogue proved that PYTs aren’t the only ones who can pull off the look — she rocked one onstage flanked with similarly clad backup dancers.

WireImageFor Fall 2021, Quinn even skipped his usual runway show in favor of a latex-laden film inspired by Michelle Pfeiffer’s 1992 take on Catwoman; with Zoë Kravitz set to play the sexy villain in “The Batman” next spring, the timing was spot on.

Balenciaga a bit out of your budget? Don’t fret, the shapewear mogul is shilling similar velvet onesies for $98 as part of her latest Skims collection.

GC imagesBut leave it to Rihanna to really raise the bar on how racy this all-in-one outfit can get; her Savage X Fenty line’s take on the trend is sheer, crotchless and comes with a giant midriff-baring cutout. Priced at $90, the piece is available in both hunter green and red — how festive!
After all, who needs Christmas stockings when you’ve got bodystockings?
